Site-visit at tawi-tawi


The Regional Economic Zone Authority (REZA), led by its Executive Director Eshan Karl O. Mabang, and other personnel from the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) and representatives from the Province of Tawi – Tawi conducted a site visit to the proposed Tawi – Tawi Ecozone in the Municipality of Panglima Sugala on February 19 – 21, 2018.

The Southern Frontier Maritime and Estate Development Corporation (SFMEDC) expressed its intent to apply as Tawi – Tawi Special Economic Zone the 218.9553 hectares, more or less, property located at Kulape, Panglima Sugala, Province of Tawi – Tawi.

During the site visit, Executive Director Mabang told Professor Omar Adil of PEZA that they need to submit first the documentary requirements set forth by REZA before it can be declared as Ecozone. Prof. Adil in turn answered that the they will try their best to comply with all the documentary requirements especially the Environmental Clearance Certificate to be issued by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – ARMM; the Land Consolidation through Memorandum of Agreement between the SFMEDC and the different land owners of the proposed area, and the Endorsement from the Provincial Development Council of the Province of Tawi – Tawi.

Prior to the site visit, Executive Director Mabang met with Samil I. Tati, Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator of the Province of Tawi – Tawi, to elucidate to him that the endorsement coming from their office is required for the development of the proposed Ecozone.
